Many Hotels Opening in Asia Pacific in 2021

Gaynor Reid, the vice president of communications for AccorHotels in Asia Pacific, give a comment that Asia has been always leading the hotel development area for last 5 years. With new pandemic it wasn’t a problem to continue growth.

France based hospitality group Accor has opened 108 hotels in Asia this year said Reid. It’s about 17,000 new rooms, which is almost 35% less than Accor’s pre-Covid forecast.

Marriott Hotels continue to increase its portfolio, has a target to open about 100 properties in Asia Pacific in 2021. Bringing more new brands and resort experiences to new destinations for customers across the region. Meanwhile, during 2020 the company celebrated its 800th milestone new hotel opening in the region with 75 hotels added to its portfolio during the whole year. It’s about 27,000 rooms were added to pipeline of new hotels opening in Asia in 2020.

How Many Hotels Will Open in 2021-2022?

In the next few years, Phuket’s hotel market will grow by 22 properties and 6,328 rooms. It’s on 40% below that was target few years ago due to covid19 pandemic.
